Here are the days of the Chol Q’ij mapped onto the Gregorian month of February 2024. We start the month with the archaeoastronomical day known as Imbolc. This is the exact midpoint between the December solstice and the March equinox, and in the Celtic calendar is seen as the first day of spring.
Later in the month, we have the big celebration of the Maya solar new year. The process will begin with the five closing days of Tz’api Q’ij (more commonly known as Wayeb in the Yucatec language). These are days of introspection which some groups would say are best spent in isolation. For this reason, public gatherings and ceremonies are not held by traditionalists on these days as the energy is thought to be without direction.
We then welcome the new Mam, 12 No’j, to carry the burden of time for the next 365 days, on 19th February with a great ceremony.
12 No’j / 2024 Calendar
My 12 No’j (2024) calendar is now available. The calendar shows the days of the Chol Q’ij, formatted onto the Gregorian calendar. This year it is available electronically as a PDF in both English and Spanish. Printed versions, in English, are available locally here in Guatemala, from Palo Santo and Lava Love Cacao in San Marcos. Google Calendar Plugin
For the more technically minded I have also created a plugin for Google Calendar. This enables you to track the days of the sacred calendar on your smartphone. Thus, you can ensure that your activities are aligned to the most conducive energies! I have also added a description to every day, just click on the day name. It is available for purchase here.
Calendar Workshop
