Category Archives: Chol Q’ij – The Energies of the Days

4 Kame (9th November 2025)

4 KameAfter the possibly turbulent energy of the previous two days, the day 4 Kame brings an opportunity to use the experiences you have been through to stabilise a physical transformation.

The power of the transformations afforded by the nawal Kame comes through facing up to experiences that often would rather be avoided. We learn through all experiences. However, the most important turning points often come about as a result of confronting the most “unpleasant” situations. These are the ones which can cause great fear or fright. But they are the ones which polish the soul when we choose to face them. This energy brings us the strength to do this by understanding the value they bring to our journey. In addition to increasing our wisdom and understanding of life, they may also lead to the inspiration of great art. Artistic talent is highly connected with the nawal Kame, and perhaps these transformative experiences are the reason why.

The energy of the number 4 brings these transformations into the physical and material realm. This can be seen as strong physical challenges to face, what we might euphemistically call learning experiences. It is only possible to learn how to come back to balance by being knocked off balance in first. It may also be a day in which our true physical challenges arise. Eventually we must meet and overcome our demons and today this challenge may be very much in the earthly plane. Thankfully we can call on our ancestors for assistance.

However, with the stability afforded by the energy of the number 4, the end result looks rather positive. Spiritual transformation may seem like an impractical ideal, but the energy of the 4 helps to bring this ideal into practical, everyday use.

Nawal Kame

Kame relates to death, which often makes people nervous. However, this nawal is seen as an extremely positive day. Birth is the gateway into the mortal life, death the gateway into the eternal. In many shamanistic traditions, the initiate goes through several death experiences during training. This can be through the use of particular herbs, or sometimes through accident or illness. In these experiences the density of the mortal realm falls away and the greater understanding emerges. It can often be described as a spiritual transformation. In the Popul Vuh, the Mayan book of creation, the Hero Twins descend to the underworld, Xibalba, to confront the Lords of Death. They pass the many challenges set for them, but eventually end up being tricked by the Lord of Death. Instead of giving in, the Hero Twins choose to sacrifice themselves.

They give instructions to a pair of seers to convince the Lords of Death to grind the Twins’ bones to dust and throw the dust in the river. Everything went according to plan and five days later the twins appeared as catfish in the river. They then transformed into vagabond “magicians”. In this way we see a literal transformation from the crusader (Tijax) through death (Kame) to the higher self (Ix). This is the potential of the Kame day, to face ones fears and attain a higher perspective, to advance the journey of your soul. This is also a day to remember your ancestors and friends that have passed into the other realm, to remember what they taught you, and to thank them for their wisdom that helped you to grow.

The Number Four

The number 4 is very important within Mayan mythology. Four represents the cardinal points, the four colours of maize, the four carriers of the year, the two equinoxes and two solstices, as well as midnight, sunrise, midday and sunset. The number four is representative of the four first men. It was said to be they who raised the sky from the sea to create the world we live on. In Mayan myth it is four pillars that support the sky from the Earth. As you can imagine, four is a number which represents stability, a good, down-to-Earth number.

3 Kan (8th November 2025)

3 KanToday may prove to be an excellent day to draw on your inner wisdom to overcome illusions. It is a day to look for empowerment within, nurture it and bring it into your home.

However, the number 3 can also represent challenges. It can be seen as unstable and is not necessarily the easiest number to work with. When combined with the energy of the nawal Kan, this may be rather problematic. It may be a day of power struggles, of challenges to wisdom. It could be a day on which big decisions are best avoided as wise decision-making may be obstructed.

This is certainly not a day to attempt to use power to push through any obstacles. Even if it worked, the consequences may be undesirable. However, everyone will experience the same issue. You may start to see behind any hypnotic facades that have been projected towards you by those trying to deceive you or hold power over you.

The power of Kan can be very seductive and illusory. Sometimes these can be our own creations. These may be about ourselves or others. Is the world and our place in it really what it seems or are we empowering a seductive illusion. Maybe this is something we use to have power over others, consciously or unconsciously? 3 Kan may ask us to look to the illusions we hold within and find the wisdom to see through them.

A positive way to work with the energy of this day may be to direct the power and wisdom of Kan internally, both towards the home of your body and the home of your soul. With Kan representing teachers, this is truly a day to look for the teacher within.

The Nawal Kan

Lady Xoc demonstrates the correct direction of energy
Lady Xoc pierces her tongue and receives wisdom for her people from her ancestor emerging from the mouth of the vision serpent. From http://www.latinamericanstudies.org/maya-lintels.htm

Kan is one of the more powerful nawales and it represents just that – power. It is connected to serpents, and serpent symbolism is very strong in Maya mythology. In the past, lightning was referred to as sky serpents, and what is seen in the outer world is reflected by the inner world. The power of Kan comes from something which is referred to as itz or coyopa, the lightning in the blood. This is the power which may also be known as Ki, Chi, Prana, kundalini or “the force”. It is life force energy. Kundalini is a sanskrit word actually meaning coiled, like a snake.

Training must be undertaken when working with any of these energies, in order to understand how to use them. In its most positive aspect, the energy of Kan brings great wisdom; in its negative aspect, great destruction. A lack of understanding or control of this power can lead to undesirable consequences. The dark side of Kan can seduce with its power, holding its prey in an almost hypnotic grip with its allure. therefore, it can become the ultimate ego trap.

However, it is also said that the feathered serpent Q’uq’umatz  brought wisdom, through the sciences of astronomy and agriculture, to the ancient Maya. Here we see the positive aspect of Kan, where the ability to work with the body lightning brings great wisdom. People born on a Kan day can become some of the greatest healers or psychics. However, they can also become the darkest sorcerers and manipulators.

The Number Three

The number 3 is still in the low end of the range of numbers. It does not have much energy yet, and it is also an odd number. It can represent the home, relating to the three hearthstones laid by the creators, and this is probably a good focus for a 3 day. However, it lacks stability and can represent challenges and obstructions. The number three brings up internal/external dilemmas. The lack of stability in the physical, external world that it brings suggests that the more appropriate action is to look to the internal world, both of the home and yourself.

2 K’at (7th November 2025) – Samhain 03:51 UTC

Sometimes we must make stark choices between what to embrace and what to release. With the nawal K’at representing attachment and the number two representing duality, this may come into sharp contrast today.

The energy of the nawal K’at is usually seen as rather favourable, particularly concerning collecting things. When these are the things that sustain us, this is highly beneficial. However, it is also the nawal of prisons, burdens and ensnarement, where we become ensnared in the nets of others. Whilst all the energies of the days have both beneficial and challenging aspects, K’at can be particularly extreme.

The number 2 is said to represent duality and polarity, and here we see it combined with those aspects of K’at. We also get to see from opposing points of view. The nawal K’at helps us to gather these different points of view, which can give a more rounded idea of situations, which may in turn result in abundance and sustenance for all involved.

The day 2 K’at  could also be seen as rather binary in its nature. K’at days are often good days to declutter our lives. With the binary nature of the 2 this could be very decisive. There is no “maybe” pile, just yes or no. It could be a great day for this clearing, although rather ruthless.

With the number 2 is also said to represent lovers, relationships and self-sacrifice, those areas may be highlighted by the energy of K’at  today. This may be a day to look at the sacrifices you make in life and what they represent to you. Are you viewing something which brings you abundance as a burden? Is it time to cut the net and release it?

Samhain

Today marks the astronomical cross quarter day of Samhain. This point of the year is exactly midway between the Equinox and the Solstice. Samhain was considered the first day of winter in the Celtic calendar. It is seen as the death of the Sun god, the sun descending into the underworld, where it will remain until Imbolc (Feb 3rd 2026).

Many people celebrate Samhain on 31st October. However, it is important to remember that Gregorian calendar dates did not exist for the ancients. To me, it is far more important to connect to solar and celestial events rather than a certain day of a Catholic calendar.

It is well known that the Maya were expert astronomers.  Much of their timekeeping was based on archaeoastronomical alignments. It would be unsurprising to find this day marked by their structures too. In Guatemala this day corresponds with the acronychal rising of the Pleiades, this important star cluster rising on the eastern horizon at sunset. It is possible that this event was taken as an important indicator of the beginning of the dry season by ancient Maya astronomers.

Regardless of the hemisphere and whether it is seen as the beginning of winter or the beginning of summer, there is a particular alignment which is happening, which is said to be an opening of portals to the otherworld. Perhaps rather than just seeing it as where the sun shines on the Earth, we could think of it as how the sun interacts with our magnetosphere. This in turn could be the reason as to why the veil is seen as being so thin at this time.

Today we see Samhain in combination with the day 2 K’at. It could be seen as a day to make a choice on what to keep in our life, and what to allow to return to the earth.

The Nawal K’at

Blood Moon, mother of the Hero Twins being sent away from Xibalba after becoming pregnant. <yoastmark class=

K’at signifies a net and represents gathering together or bundling. In the Western Highlands of Guatemala, to this day many crops are harvested and carried in nets – oranges, lemons, avocados to name but a few. Through this we see one of the positive meanings of this nawal, that of abundance and harvest. K’at is a great day to draw things together. This could mean gathering your harvest, collecting ideas for your projects, or inviting people to a social event. It is a day of prosperity and the bounty which comes from the Earth, a day of gardeners and merchants.

However, K’at also has its more challenging side. An abundant crop will fill the net, but it will also slow you down. K’at is also the nawal of prisons and burdens, as the net which gathers, can also ensnare us. When candles are purchased for the fire ceremonies, they come in bundles held together by little strings. When the nawal K’at is addressed during the fire ceremony, these strings are put in to the fire,  with offerings, to ask K’at to help us release ourselves from our burdens, from the ties which bind us.  These ties can also be seen as excessive attachment to material things.

The Number Two

The number 2 is representative of duality, of polarity. Although a low number, it has surprising strength. It is said to be able to call upon both aspects or polarities of what it is attached to. It is said to be the number of lovers, it signifies relationships and self-sacrifice. Whilst it can lend itself to mediation, seeing both sides of the story, it also can be indecisive.

Pleiades Conjunct Moon – 6th November 2025

Tonight a rather interesting alignment occurs as the Pleiades are in conjunction with the Moon, something depicted in ancient scientific art.

A few years ago I was introduced to a remarkable piece of bronze age science, the Nebra Sky Disk. It is thought to date to around 1600BCE and shows what could be seen as the crescent moon, the full moon and the Pleiades. I had the good fortune to visit both the museum in Halle, where the disk is on display, and Mittelberg where it was found.

The configuration shown on the disk points to two dates in the year. The crescent moon conjunction would occur in the western sky just after sunset, approximately 3 days after new moon in April. This is  the point where the Pleiades disappear into the Earth at sunset, which in some cultures is seen as the handful of seeds being planted into the ground.

The full moon conjunction will occur today! This is almost aligned with the achronycal rise of the Pleiades, something which may be seen as the timing behind the origins of the day of the dead. The Pleiades are related to the ancestors and this is the day on which they take their place amongst the stars. The Stellarium screenshot I used below shows the rise of the moon and the Pleiades at Halle in Germany, where the conjunction will be most pronounced.

One thing to note, however, is that this is not the same months with which the disk would have originally worked. The cycle of precession of the equinoxes has changed our skies in the last 3600 years. This would mean that the spring event would occur just before the March equinox and the autumn event would occur just after the autumn equinox. Perhaps these may have been even more connected with both the planting and harvest seasons.

New Video – The Aq’ab’al Trecena (6th – 18th November 2025)

Somewhere in the darkness, light begins to make its presence known. This is the beginning of beginnings, it is the first spark of the fire. The first spark needs tending, and gentle use of breath and material to grow it into the fire it will become. The spark may represent a new idea that you have, but this is the first thought of this idea. It is something that comes in the waking moment, fresh from the dream world. It has started to emerge into this world but is still uncertain, hidden and yet to take form. This is the moment where it needs support and tending, just as the spark or the newborn needs care and attention. This is where the input and encouragement of family, friends and community can help that spark to become the fire, or that newborn to grow.

You’ll find the YouTube link at the bottom of this page. However, I am now making these recordings available as a podcast! You can find it on Spotify, Amazon Music, Castbox and iHeart Radio, Apple Podcasts and Deezer too!

For those of you who prefer a short format daily video, you can also find the trecena video divided into 13 shorter versions on TikTok. You can find me here https://www.tiktok.com/@mark.elmy or as @mark.elmy on the app.

1 Aq’ab’al (6th November 2025)

1 AqabalThe day 1 Aq’ab’al is an excellent day for starting new ventures, for getting your new concepts out into the world and for receiving the encouragement we need for new ideas.

When we consider the nawal Aq’ab’al as the dawning of the new day, the energy of 1 Aq’ab’al can be seen as the very first moment of realisation that a new day is coming. It is far from light it is only just distinguishable. Somewhere in the darkness, light begins to make its presence known. This is the beginning of beginnings, it is the first spark of the fire. The first spark needs tending, gentle use of breath and material in order to grow it into the fire it will become.

The spark may represent a new idea that you have, but this is the first thought of this idea. It is something that comes in the waking moment, fresh from the dream world. It has started to emerge into this world but is still uncertain, hidden and yet to take much form. This is the moment where it needs support and tending, just as the spark, or the newborn needs care and attention. This is where the input and encouragement of family, friends and community can help that spark to become the fire, or that newborn to grow.

Aq’ab’al can also represent relationships, so this day may be the first glimmer of something new, or the rekindling of an existing relationship in order to start a new “day.” Either way, this should be a rather joyful day of new possibilities.

New Cycles

Today again marks an interesting milestone for me, and for my site. It’s my 10 “year” anniversary. I began writing about the energies of the days with my very first post on 1 Aq’ab’al, 19th November 2015. I have now completed 14 cycles of the sacred calendar, 3640 days, posting pretty much every single day! Sometimes this has proved a challenge when I’m trekking to El Mirador or suchlike, but I do my best to be consistent. I guess this will be the case when I make the Mirador trek again in March (and possibly April) next year! Thank you for reading my work, thank you for the encouragement which you have given, the support and all your kind words.

The Nawal Aq’ab’al

The word aq’ab is translated as dark. The suffix -al changes the meaning slightly, alluding transtition and the dawning of the day. It is the time between darkness and light, night and day. Probably our best way to translate it would be as twilight. Birth is the beginning of the mortal journey. Aq’ab’al is just the beginning of the day and of things which are not yet fully formed.

In Santiago Atitlan one day, a friend explained to me the different parts of a weaving on a backstrap loom. Aq’ab’al is the warp (the vertical threads), B’atz is the weft (the horizontal threads) which creates the whole cloth. The newly woven cloth is Kawok. In order for the weaver to create, first she has an idea in her head or a dream. She sets out the dream on her loom by setting up the warp. The design has passed from being just an idea, to the beginnings of a woven reality. Thus, concept requires creative input before it becomes whole. Aq’ab’al can also represent conception. The fertilised egg is far from ready to be born, but has passed from the dream or spirit world into the physical.

Aq’ab’al days are great days for the start of new things, particularly new relationships – Aq’ab’al has a strong affinity with marriage. Also it is a perfect day for starting new projects. It is the time to bring them into the world of light from the world of dreams and ideas.

The Number One

The number 1 is representative of the seed, of unity. It represents birth and beginnings. It is a low and odd number, which usually represents something challenging. However, the seed can grow into a mighty tree, it is full of potential. It needs the correct nutrients and conditions to germinate and develop its potential. We also may need encouragement to develop our ideas.

2026 / 1 Kej Wall Calendar PDF

My 2026 / 1 Kej wall calendar is now available. Once again I have decided to keep the format in alignment with the Maya solar year by creating a calendar of 14 Gregorian months. The issue is that the Maya Solar calendar celebrates its “new year” in February. Of course, most people want their calendars in December ready for the new Gregorian year. My 2026 calendar includes the months of January and February 2027. In this way, I cover the whole of the year 1 Kej (and the whole of 2026).

As an example of what you will receive, here is an electronic copy of my calendar from 2023. Please click the image below to take to the document which you can view.

Once again I have decided to share 20% of the profit from the calendar. I have been very fortunate to meet some incredible people through my work. This year I will be supporting just one project, one which is very close to my heart.

Reclaim the Altars

I am choosing the work of my teacher, Don Rigoberto Itzep Chanchavac and his organisation Misión Maya Wajxakib B’atz. In 2019 I attended a national conference of Aj Q’ijab, Mayan Spiritual guides, regarding the reclamation, renovation and maintenance of altars within Guatemala. Some have been forgotten, some have ended up on private land, and some have even been built over. The objective of this project is to identify these altars and either bring them back in to use or transfer the energy of the altar to a new altar if renovation is not possible. Even the meetings require funding, to get all of these elders together, and so I have chosen to use some of the profits from the calendar to support this mission.

13 Iq’ (5th November 2025) – The Return on the Mam

13 Iq'On this special day of the return of the Mam, important messages come through loud and clear, from this world or the other. The question will then be whether we choose to listen.

The energy of the nawal Iq’ is strong and can be unpredictable. It can bring change into our lives. This may be sudden and unexpected, changing our direction or blowing something at us without warning. When this energy is combined with the number 13, the strongest of the numbers, this may result in great changes. The power of the spirit world may be behind them.

Iq’ days are great days on which to make announcements, as your words are empowered and carry more weight. If you have something big to say, today would be an excellent day for it. It is important to recognise the extra force with which your words may arrive today. One of the shadows of Iq’ is anger and today angry words may be far more destructive than you intended. Whilst it is important to express yourself, this is certainly a day count to ten before you react. Today words may carry the energy of a hurricane with them.

Today is a powerful day to receive important messages from the spirit world or from your ancestors. This would be an excellent day to ask questions of the ancestors, through divination or a medium. However, the strength of this day may mean that the messages come through whether you are asking or not. It is important to be alert for these, although it is likely that they will be so obvious that you will not miss them.

Veintena Takaxepual – Return of the Mam

Within the solar calendar, today marks the beginning of a new month as we travel through the solar year. Today is the first day of Takaxepual known as the season of first sowing. It is 260 days since the Mam 13 Iq’ took his seat, you can read more about that here. This should mark the point in the year where the rain ceases to fall and we move into the dry months before the new Mam, 1 Kej, takes his seat in 105 days time.

It is particularly interesting that this takes place just before astronomical cross quarter day of Samhain (November 7th, 03:51 UTC). This point of the year is exactly midway (45 days) between the Equinox and the Solstice. It was considered the first day of winter in the Celtic calendar. It is seen as the death of the Sun god. The sun descends into the underworld where it will remain until Imbolc (Feb 3rd 2026 19:45 UTC). Regardless of the hemisphere there is a particular alignment which is happening. It is said to be an opening of portals to the otherworld.

This could suggest that the power of the Mam 13 Iq’ will go through a change at this point of the year, the original strength diminished after being used throughout the growing season. The year lord could be seen as having done his work and now enters a period of retirement, so perhaps the intensity this year lord has been demonstrating may be softened. As this Mam carries the intensity and chaos of the hurricane, it may bring some welcome relief.

The Nawal Iq’

Wind God 1

Nawal Iq’ is another strong nawal. It represents communication and particularly divine inspiration. It is the wind, the breath of life, that which brings the change in seasons.

The communication brought by Iq’ can be enlightening and inspiring. It is the breath of the divine which flows through us all, in fact the word for soul is Saq Iq’ – white breath. When our breath stops, our divine essence leaves our physical body. When we engage ourselves with the divine breath we are able to create, to manifest with our words, to inspire those around us. However, Iq’ also has a destructive side. It has the ability to blow like a hurricane and may level everything before it. It is the angry words which cut down everything in their path.

Hurricane is one of the few English words which is actually derived from a Mayan word- Junrakan, meaning “one footed”. Junrakan is another name for the Heart of the Sky, one of the creator deities. Once again it seems that certain patterns follow through the sequence of the nawales which are interrelated. Imox, the female creative principle, or egg, is fertilised be Iq’, the male principle. Their combination results in Aq’ab’al, the conception and a change in the state, bringing the dream into reality.

Iq’ is a day of communication, a day of inspiration. It can be a great day to express yourself through written or particularly verbal means. It is also a day on which changes happen. You can either embrace those changes or resist them. However, be aware that the wind blows forcefully and resistance of change requires a great deal of energy. Embracing change helps you to learn to dance like a leaf in the wind.

The Number Thirteen

The number 13 is the final number. It represents the spirit world. It is said that on Samhain, the veil between the worlds is the thinnest. However within the sacred calendar, this thinning happens every 13 days. This connection with the spirit world creates a powerful day. Both the positive and negative aspects of the day come through strongly. It is a very good day for activities such as divinations. Ceremonies on 13 days are best left to experienced Aj Q’ijab who understand how to work with that energy.

12 Imox (4th November 2025)

12 ImoxUsing your life experience to determine your reality from that of others may be a good exercise. Today has the potential to be very light, but also very dark. It is a day of collective dreams, but whose dreams are they? Our life experience teaches us how to embrace our individuality and escape from the herd.

The nawal Imox connects us with the dream world, that place of visions and creation from which all things come. It is where we all exist together, as do all polarities. Sometimes when we dream we receive inspiration, sometimes we might have a nightmare. When we go to sleep we don’t necessarily know to which aspect we will journey.

Connected with the number 12, it can be seen as a day of powerful experiences within the group consciousness. The 12 can represent the gathering together of all of life’s experiences. Today we can imagine that the hopes, fears, dreams and nightmares of an entire generation are gathering. It can be easier than ever to be caught in strong media images and dragged to the depths of despair, feeling everything from those around you.

One way to help navigate Imox days is to take some time alone. Get away from people, and especially the media. In its most positive aspect, the day 12 Imox can be seen as a day to gather together all the dreams that you have had throughout your life in one fertile and creative bundle. This bundle can then be used to nurture and inspire, yourself and others as you feed it back to the collective.

The Nawal Imox

Nawal Imox represents the collective consciousness, the great ocean. It is the moment before the “big bang”, when all that existed was the dream of the creator. It is everything and nothing in one place, the ovum from which reality was conceived. Imox is still very much in the other world, requiring another component to physically manifest the dream into reality.

Imox is considered to be a feminine nawal. Sometimes called water lily, sometimes crocodile, it is an embodiment of the primordial. It was from the great ocean that the four first men raised sky to create the world which we inhabit. Imox can also be seen as the Darwinian swamp from which all life emerged. It is fertile and creative, the mother that gave birth to our entire reality.

Imox is our common origin, and as such links us all together. It is the place of dreams, the collective conscious we delve into on our nightly voyages. It may also relate to the place that certain plant medicines take us to in order to bring us wisdom. However, as the font of all of creation, Imox harbours the dark as well as the light.

Imox is a day to celebrate the spirit of the times, to understand the collective mind. It is a day to dream your creations, your art, your music. Imox helps us all feel connected, when the psychic field between us may be particularly strong. Discernment may be called for, to understand when to dissociate from the collective. It is important to remember your individuality.

The Number 12

The number 12 is the penultimate number. In some ways it can be seen as the last Earthly number, the number 13 representing the spirit world. We travelled through the mortal world with 1 through 6, then the other world with 7 through 12. In this way 12 can be seen as a point of bringing all of the experiences into one bundle for presentation to the spirit world as we step into 13. As such, the number 12 brings a wealth of experience into one place, it is rather like writing an autobiography. It is totality, all that is, brought together.

11 Ajpu (3rd November 2025)

11 AjpuSometimes we just have to trust our instincts on the quest for a higher purpose. All possibilities have to be investigated, whether they share a logical connection or not.

Today you might find yourself almost desperately searching for the divinity in the world. Its combination with the energy of the 11 may send you on a convincing wander, even if you don’t know why.

It is as if you can feel it somewhere close. Somewhere out there there is a goodness, a true holiness that can be embraced and experienced. It brings everything into its divine state, yourself, your family and your community. The strong energetic combination with the number 11 gives a drive and purpose to find it. It might not give the exact direction of where to go, or possibly even what you are looking for. It is just better than what you are experiencing now, a better world. This can be difficult to work with. However, sometimes you just need to walk for the sake of taking a walk. This way opens up new possibilities and opportunities. Having no destination in mind, allowing yourself to be guided by synchronicity, but walking with determination, you may make discoveries.

“If you are seeking creative ideas, go out walking. Angels whisper to a man when he goes for a walk.” Raymond Inmon

Today might not bring the exact solutions you are looking for, you might not even understand exactly how the pieces you do find fit into the divine plan. This will take some time to come together and to come to clarity. However, you will not find them at all if you do not follow the impulse to go looking for them in the first place.

The Nawal Ajpu

journey to your highest potential

Nawal Ajpu is once again a nawal with a multitude of meanings and translations. In the Yucatec language it is known as Ahau, in Kiche is is also known as Junajpu. These are variously translated as lord, hunter, blow gunner, flower and sun. Each one of the translations has its merits, and represents an aspect of this auspicious nawal.

Within the ancient Mayan society, the royals were not just political leaders of their particular city-states, they were priest-kings and priest-queens. They served as the conduit to the divine, deriving their wisdom for guiding their people through their connection with the Hearts of the Earth and the Sky. This wisdom enriched both the ruling dynasty and their people, as they would be working in harmony with the gods. The ruler of the city was also the physical embodiment of the divine, and Ajpu is closely related to this. Likewise it represents our potential, the state of divinity to which we may aspire.

Ajpu represents the holiness in life, the divinity in the physical world, and our search for it. It is the search for underlying meaning, understanding that each person is a part of the whole. Whether we like it or not, and however we judge it, we are all a part of creation.

Every action of ourselves and others gives an opportunity to explore ourselves and our reaction. Sometimes we are attracted, sometimes repelled by the action of others. Occasionally Ajpu can lead us to become immersed in the other world, to lose sight of reality. It is important to remember to stay in touch with the Earth as we reach to the Sky.

The Number 11

The number 11 is a high and odd number. This gives it some rather challenging properties, although it can come good in the end. Imagine you visit Ireland and are transfixed by the green of the hills. Then you go to Morocco and are awed by the red of the buildings. Then you go to the Caribbean and are moved by the turquoise sea. You return home and paint a beautiful picture using those colours. When you were in Ireland you didn’t know you were going to paint that masterpiece. You may not have even known why you were there.  This is how 11 works. You are sure you need to be doing something, but unsure why. You are collecting experience through many wanderings.
