3 Imox (9th November 2024)

3 ImoxToday is a day to celebrate your individuality. It is a day to look inside yourself and identify your dreams by detaching from society’s images.

The fertile nature of the energy of the nawal Imox gives rise to creation if it can separate from the inspirational dreams. Today the energy of the number 3 may assist with that separation, creating an internal focus.

Nawal Imox represents the visionary world and without it, there would be no creation. However, it also has some very challenging aspects. Sometimes we connect too strongly with the collective consciousness, bringing out the herd mentality. Today the introverted energy of the number 3 may dampen the connection to the collective consciousness. This in turn helps the visionary energy of Imox to become more focused than usual.

We like to be a part of a tribe, we like to belong. We understand the “rules” of what we grew up with. Whilst we might rebel against these norms, there is sometimes a nostalgia around them for us. They fed us as a child and then we moved away from them. Sometimes we yearn for that nurture again. The energy today may highlight your separation from birth culture. In our birth process, as we progress through the trecena of Kawok, we can see this as separation from the collective consciousness, or separation from our mother culture. It allows our individuality to emerge.

The energy of the day 3 Imox has the potential to allow us to become independent. It allows us to dream for ourselves, our own thoughts rather than cultural biases guiding us.

The Nawal Imox

Nawal Imox represents the collective consciousness, the great ocean. It is the moment before the “big bang”, when all that existed was the dream of the creator. It is everything and nothing in one place, the ovum from which reality was conceived. Imox is still very much in the other world, requiring another component to physically manifest the dream into reality.

Imox is considered to be a feminine nawal. Sometimes called water lily, sometimes crocodile, it is an embodiment of the primordial. It was from the great ocean that the four first men raised sky to create the world which we inhabit. Imox can also be seen as the Darwinian swamp from which all life emerged. It is fertile and creative, the mother that gave birth to our entire reality.

Imox is our common origin, and as such links us all together. It is the place of dreams, the collective conscious we delve into on our nightly voyages. It may also relate to the place that certain plant medicines take us to in order to bring us wisdom. However, as the font of all of creation, Imox harbours the dark as well as the light.

Imox is a day to celebrate the spirit of the times, to understand the collective mind. It is a day to dream your creations, your art, your music. Imox helps us all feel connected, when the psychic field between us may be particularly strong. Discernment may be called for, to understand when to dissociate from the collective. It is important to remember your individuality.

The Number Three

There are various myths about the creation which link with the number 3. One is that at the time of creation, three stones jumped out of the fireplace and formed the new world. These three stones are called the hearthstones and are still seen in many Maya homes today, on the fire supporting the tortilla griddle. From an astronomical point of view, the stones are the stars Alnitak, Saiph and Rigel in the constellation we call Orion, and the Smoky Fireplace is the Great Orion Nebula (M42)

The number 3 is still in the low end of the range of numbers. It does not have much energy yet, and it is also an odd number. It can represent the home, relating to the three hearthstones laid by the creators, and this is probably a good focus for a 3 day. However, it lacks stability and can represent challenges and obstructions. The number three brings up internal/external dilemmas. The lack of stability in the physical, external world that it brings suggests that the more appropriate action is to look to the internal world, both of the home and yourself.

9 Imox (20th October 2024)

We can see this as representing the waters of life themselves. It is a day to bring life into our dreams.  A day of creation and nurturing of life itself, brought through from the other world.

Whilst Imox has its reputation for getting lost in the dream world. It also represents the place from where all things come. When this is combined with the number of life and the divine feminine, we can expect great things.

In some ways, there can be no purer expression of feminine potential than the day 9 Imox. Imox is the font of life, possibly the egg, possibly the womb, depending on how you look at it. It is the creative potential waiting to be brought from the collective consciousness into the physical world. The 9 represents both the feminine and is seen as the number of life itself.

It is a day to look to the women around us to help us all navigate the collective consciousness without being pulled into its dreamy depths. If you have a life dream and you are wondering how to bring it into reality, today you might ask the advice of the women in your life how best to nurture it.

The Number Nine

The number nine is the number of lunations in the human gestation period and the sacred calendar. The sacred calendar is known as a calendar of life, and it is women that give life. As such the number nine is seen as the number of life and the number of the divine feminine. It gives all that it is attached to a strong feminine presence. It is a day on which women may wish to give thanks for their gifts.

2 Imox (30th September 2024)

2 ImoxThe duality of the dream and reality is apparent today.

One of the hazards of Imox days is the possibility of sinking into the dreamlike depths of the collective consciousness.  Imox is a fertile place to allow our minds to wander. However, it is easy to get stuck in this swamp of creation. What you can bring out of these depths can be something truly in harmony with the spirit of the times. That’s if you manage to extract yourself from the dream. Imox can be seen as infinite possibilities. Thus, it can also be like staring into the abyss. It can inspire or terrify. The energy of Imox is not always the easiest to work with.

Today, the energy of the number 2 is coupled with Imox. This can be seen as being able to understand the duality. The energy of the number two helps us to discern between the dream world and reality. It is, perhaps, rather a useful combination, one which may help bring out the best in the “crazy” day.

We could also see the number 2 as representing self-sacrifice. Today there is a possibility that you might need to make a sacrifice of your energy to bring your dreams closer to the surface. Perhaps the most charming interpretation would be when we see the number 2 as the number of lovers, suggesting that today you are particularly able to form a collective consciousness with your partner. Today is a day of dreaming together.

Imox helps us all feel connected, when the psychic field between us may be particularly strong. Discernment may be called for, to understand when to dissociate from the collective. It is important to remember your individuality.

The Number Two

The number 2 is representative of duality, of polarity. Although a low number, it has surprising strength. It is said to be able to call upon both aspects or polarities of what it is attached to. It is said to be the number of lovers, it signifies relationships and self-sacrifice. Whilst it can lend itself to mediation, seeing both sides of the story, it also can be indecisive.

8 Imox (10th September 2024)

Today is a good day to make ceremonies for water. We give thanks for the sustenance we receive from the water, and to ask for pardon for the pollution we allow to happen. It is a day to recognise the essence of life and celebrate our connection to water in the oceans, lakes, and large bodies of water.

8 Imox brings a recognition of the spirit of the times, both the things we embrace and the things we push away. They all come from the same source. It is a celebration of the dream world, the limitless potential from which we draw our creativity. It is a day on which we give thanks for the dreams that we can manifest in the physical world. We also ask for guidance from the dream world for further inspiration. It is a day when we ask for safety on our nightly journeys into the abyss so that we can find our way back to reality again.

The energy of 8 Imox brings a day to bring wholeness to your creations or dreams. It is the day to put the final parts into the project, or to tap into collective for guidance on how to complete your project. It is time to connect with the part of the collective consciousness with which you resonate strongest to bring wholeness to your dream. However, it is important to remember your wholeness as an individual outside of the collective. Discernment may be called for. One must understand when to dissociate from the collective, remember our individuality, and to pull oneself out of an unhealthy group consciousness.

The Nawal Imox

Nawal Imox represents the collective consciousness, the great ocean. It is the moment before the “big bang”, when all that existed was the dream of the creator. It is everything and nothing in one place, the ovum from which reality was conceived. Imox helps us all feel connected, when the psychic field between us may be particularly strong. Discernment may be called for, to understand when to dissociate from the collective. It is important to remember your individuality.

The Number Eight

The number 8 is considered to be a number of wholeness. It can be seen as birth (1) and death (7) combined to represent the whole cycle of the soul. It can also be seen as the point where the four first men who raised the sky from the sea were joined by their wives and the world become whole. The eighth day of the trecena is the most common day for ceremonies to be made. It is still in the balanced range of numbers and is an even number, which is also considered fortunate. As this wholeness represents every aspect of the energy of the day with which it is coupled. It is the wholeness of the nawal that is addressed in ceremony.

New Video – The Trecena of Imox (21st August – 2nd September 2024)

The trecena of Imox is a time for a new dream. It is far from something which can be brought in to place right now, but it gives the opportunity to plant the seeds for the dreams you wish to bring to fruition over the next 260 days.

Are You Looking for Adventure?

We started with the questions “What are our favourite Guatemalan experiences?” and “How can we make these experiences accessible?” In doing so, we have designed our Rebirth of Adventure Journey. We hesitate to call it a retreat. It is not about withdrawing from the world but fully entering into the experience of it. Our aim is to bring you to and remind you of the adventure that exists in all realms. From the physical journey through lush jungles and beautiful mountains to the spiritual journey to ancient temples and the vortex of Lake Atitlan, we have curated some of the most moving experiences of our time here in this beautiful country which we call home. All of these activities are achievable for those with a moderate level of fitness. However, those with mobility challenges may find them unachievable.

As you can imagine, timing is one of the most important guides for us. This journey coincides with the end of the rainy season in the trecena of Kawok from 6th – 20th November 2024. It gives the lushest, most beautiful time of the year and usually abundant sunshine. We have chosen the thirteen days in the Maya ritual calendar which signify a time of rebirth, with the intention of rebirthing the spirit of adventure within all of us.

The journey has its own separate page where you can also find a contact form for enquiries. You can find it here https://fourpillarsretreats.com/

Popol Jay

Popol Jay is an ancient name to define the House of the Council of Elders, among the Maya of Guatemala. These were places of wisdom where sacred knowledge about medicine, the calendars, music, spiritual practice and more was kept and passed to future generations. They were all burnt down during the Conquest and subsequent Colonization periods. Today, the Q’eqchi’ Maya Council of Elders Releb’aal Saq’e has joined forces with many supporters to rebuild the Popol Jay of the North, in the lowlands of the Petén region, heart of the Maya culture of the Classic Period. The Elders have worked hard to acquire land and co-design this Center of Knowledge to share ancient wisdom with the World. To donate to the Elders of Peten to fund the Popol Jay, please use this link https://www.popoljay.org.gt/donaciones

Google Calendar Plugin

For the more technically minded I have also created a plugin for Google Calendar. This enables you to track the days of the sacred calendar on your smartphone. In this way you can ensure that your activities are aligned to the most conducive energies! I have also added a description to every day, just click on the day name. It is available for purchase here https://thefourpillars.net/google-calendar-plugin/

1 Imox (21st August 2024)

1 ImoxThis is a day to begin a new dream. It brings new inspiration to develop over the coming 260 days. Today we begin a new a new trecena, and some would say a whole new cycle of the calendar.

For me, the day 1 Imox has the words “in the beginning” very firmly attached to it. The Popol Vuh tells how before the creation event “only the sea alone pooled under the sky; there is nothing whatever gathered together. It is at rest. Not a single thing stirs”. As Imox represents the great ocean, 1 Imox could very well be seen as this moment before creation.

Imox is pure potential, limitless and directionless. Likewise, the number 1 also represents potential. Today is a day to dream, and dream big. It may be confusing, the initial images might not make sense to begin with, as so often with dreams. Now might not be the best time to attempt to fit them together. Just allow the ideas to come and grasp their energy for use later on.

Today may be for delving deep into the collective consciousness, to see what dreams are possible. It is the seed hidden deep in the dark moistness, with the ability to become whatever you wish it to. It is yours to grow, yours to guide, but today a little encouragement from others, to start to grow this dream seed, may prove very helpful. They may also help you to pull yourself out of the depths and come up for air once in a while.

Nawal Imox

The Number One

The number 1 is representative of the seed, of unity. It represents birth and beginnings. It is a low and odd number, which usually represents something challenging. However, the seed can grow into a mighty tree, it is full of potential. It needs the correct nutrients and conditions to germinate and develop its potential. We also may need encouragement to develop our ideas.

7 Imox (1st August 2024)

7 ImoxWith Imox representing the dream world and the number 7 representing finality, this may be a day to bring your dream to a conclusion. Choices may need to be made regarding which dream to follow.

The combination of Imox with the number 7 may lead to the ability to see all the dreams at once. This may lead to indecision. When all possibilities are laid before you, will choosing one mean that you have to give up the others? This is where a problem arises. Life moves forwards when decisions are made and paths are followed. Indecision can lead to stagnation. Today may bring the need to make a choice on which creative potential to follow, and what desire you wish to engage with.

The energy of the number seven also has a connection with death, endings and finality. This could represent bringing a particular dream to its conclusion, possibly even the end of the dream being its realisation. On the other hand, it could represent an end to a particular connection to the collective which may have been unhealthy.

The energy of the day 7 Imox may lend itself to being able to balance both the dream and the reality. It is possible to tap into the creativity associated with the collective consciousness while bringing that inspiration into the physical world. The challenge, however, may be knowing where to draw the line between the two. Being able to see all points of view within the collective may lead to confusion rather than clarity, remember to apply your powers of discernment.
This, being the midpoint of the Tz’ikin trecena, may be asking for us to use this vantage point to decide which dreams we wish to bring into our new vision, and how we might bring them to a conclusion.

Nawal Imox

Nawal Imox represents the collective consciousness, the great ocean. It is the moment before the “big bang” when all that existed was the dream of the creator. It is everything and nothing in one place, the ovum from which reality was conceived. Imox is still very much in the other world, requiring another component to physically manifest the dream into reality.

It is fertile and creative, the mother that gave birth to our entire reality.

Imox helps us all feel connected, when the psychic field between us may be particularly strong. Discernment may be called for, to understand when to dissociate from the collective. It is important to remember your individuality.

The Number Seven

If we imagine the numbers 1 through 13 as a pyramid, the number seven would be at the top. Seven is the number of balance, it gives the ability to weigh up situations and see all points of view. While this may be very noble, it may lead to indecision.

However, it is also known as a number of death and endings, which would seem strange as it is only halfway through. It is another representation of the change of state of the soul, showing half of the journey (1-6) in the mortal world and half (8-13) in the otherworld. As such it can be a great number on which to finalise or end something.

Number Sequence.jpg

The sequence of numbers as they appear with each appearance of a nawal. Here we see that the sequence begins with 1 and ends with 7, giving 7 as a number of finality.

13 Imox (12th July 2024)

13 ImoxThe dreams of the ancestors and our connection with them may dominate today.  This combination leads to a closeness to the unseen world. As a day of divination, readings or dreams, it may be the most outstanding.

Sometimes Imox can be rather a passive energy, one to be experienced rather than pushing the experience onto you.  I often think of the connection with Imox being rather like all the hairs on our bodies acting like little psychic antennae. Those antennae pick up everything around us, the feelings of others, creating empathy. However, today this is connected not just with our world, but also with the unseen. This can include our ancestors in the spirit world, and possibly other realms within nature, the devas. Consequently, the information coming through may be rather overwhelming, it can be like everything is “turned up to 11.”

When filtered and ordered, some truly remarkable information may come through. But, if it is unfiltered it may be just an unintelligible mess, a jumbled dream. This is certainly a day to apply your discernment to whatever comes to you. You may find that exposure to the mass media is counterproductive, today would be a better day for a retreat.

It may be a day where individuality could be lost.  You may find yourself sucked into a crowd that you might not normally associate with. It is a day to be aware of your psychic connection with the collective consciousness, and use it appropriately. It’s a great day to disconnect from the media, from social media and the influences of that collective, and perhaps instead connect with the collective of the ancestors, of spirit.

The Number Thirteen

The number 13 is the final number. It represents the spirit world. It is said that on Samhain, the veil between the worlds is the thinnest. However within the sacred calendar, this thinning happens every 13 days. This connection with the spirit world creates a powerful day. Both the positive and negative aspects of the day come through strongly. It is a very good day for activities such as divinations. Ceremonies on 13 days are best left to experienced Aj Q’ijab who understand how to work with that energy.

6 Imox (22nd June 2024)

6 ImoxOur existence relies on water, particularly the oceans and lakes. Today is an excellent day to give thanks for the waters that support our families and bring stability.

Imox can also be seen as a connection to the world of dreams and visions. Some interpretations refer to Imox as “the left hand” which could also infer the right brain. Imox days can be highly creative if we allow ourselves to dip into the dream world. Sometimes this may lead us astray, taking us into some ungrounded reality. However, with the presence of the number six stability can be established. This stability can help us determine dreams from reality and understand what is achievable. Embrace the possibilities of your creativity and firmly ground your dreams into your world today.

The empathic energy of Imox can sometimes unsettle us as we feel what is going on in the collective. We can get lost in the feelings of others, losing sight of our own. The pairing with the number six today brings a healthy balance to this and highlights the family connection. As an even number in the middle of the thirteen days, it should provide an equilibrium to what we feel. It may be a day which helps you to stabilise your individuality within your family.

As we pass through the trecena of Ajmak we are shown today how empathy can bring forgiveness. When we are able to put ourselves in the position of another we can better understand their actions. Through that understanding comes acceptance and forgiveness.  This might especially be focussed on family matters today.

Imox helps us all feel connected, when the psychic field between us may be particularly strong. Discernment may be called for, to understand when to dissociate from the collective. It is important to remember your individuality.

The Number Six

The number six is said to be the number of ultimate stability. It is the first of the three middle numbers of the cycle, the balance point. Thus, ceremonies are often made on six days thanks to their conducive energy.

The number 6 carries the qualities of the number 4, but has an extra axis. If we think of the number four representing the cardinal points, the number six adds a vertical axis to these. It brings in the Heart of the Sky and the Heart of the Earth. The number six has the stability of the number four embellished by the masculine and feminine principals. If the number four represents the physical world and the number 6 represents the physical world animated by the life force energy.

Thus, it also represents family, relating to the six qualities which hold families together – health, understanding, property, employment, friendship and actions.

12 Imox (2nd June 2024)

12 ImoxThis has the potential to be very light, but also very dark. It is a day of gathering together the dreams, but whose dreams are they? Imox teaches us how to embrace our individuality and escape from the herd.

The nawal Imox connects us with the dream world, that place of visions and creation from which all things come. It is where we all exist together, as do all polarities. Sometimes when we dream we receive inspiration, sometimes we might have a nightmare. When we go to sleep we don’t necessarily know to which aspect we will journey.

Connected with the number 12, it can be seen as a day of powerful experiences within the group consciousness. The 12 can represent the gathering together of all of life’s experiences. Today we can imagine that the hopes, fears, dreams and nightmares of an entire generation are gathering. It can be easier than ever to be caught in strong media images and dragged to the depths of despair, feeling everything from those around you.

One way to help navigate Imox days is to take some time alone. Get away from people, and especially the media. In its most positive aspect, the day 12 Imox can be seen as a day to gather together all the dreams that you have had throughout your life in one fertile and creative bundle. This bundle can then be used to nurture and inspire, yourself and others as you feed it back to the collective.

The Number 12

The number 12 is the penultimate number. In some ways it can be seen as the last Earthly number, the number 13 representing the spirit world. We travelled through the mortal world with 1 through 6, then the other world with 7 through 12. In this way 12 can be seen as a point of bringing all of the experiences into one bundle for presentation to the spirit world as we step into 13. As such, the number 12 brings a wealth of experience into one place, it is rather like writing an autobiography. It is totality, all that is, brought together.
