Here are the days of the Chol Q’ij mapped onto the Gregorian month of January 2022.
There are two interesting celestial events this month starting with the Quantrids meteor shower on the 3rd/4th. We also have the reappearance of Venus as a morning planet. Early in the month Venus will move into its inferior conjunction, where it will pass between the Earth and the Sun. It will move out of its evening phase and move into its morning phase. According to the Dresden Codex, these events will occur on 10 Q’anil (11th January) and 5 Ajmak (19th January). You may like to use this information to watch the heliacal rise of Venus on the 19th January, where you will see it appear on the Eastern horizon just before sunrise. The light comes back to the world, and what has been hidden in the darkness is revealed, it is sometimes seen as the time of the downfall of leaders. It is perhaps interesting that this re-emergence of the guiding light occurs during the E’ trecena, illuminating the new path.
