The third closing day focuses on acceptance. If you are using these 5 days to close the solar year, it is a good day to understand what you choose to accept from the previous solar year. It is also a day which might highlight what you cannot accept.
Here we see this third closing day combined with both the nawal and the number of the feminine. Ix is strongly connected with the Earth and our ability to manifest with her. Yet we also see disrespect towards her daily. We see how certain elements of society are destroying the only home we know, the only known habitable planet for humans.
It might ask us to question what we have accepted and what we can no longer accept. As we move out of this year of exploration, discovery and learning, 11 E’, how can we use what we have found? As we move into the year 12 No’j can we come up with a solution which will benefit the Earth?
She is our source of life, but she also brings out our magic. Sometimes this might be difficult to accept too. What has reminded you of the magic of your connection to the Earth in the past year? Are you ready to accept a profound connection to the Earth, and to your own abilities?
Sometimes we also have to accept that we did what we could. Maybe we might have done more, maybe we will achieve tha in teh next solar cycle.
Greetings from Brazil! I´ve been counting the days on the sacred calendar for over 8 years now and as I try to understand a little more about the solar year ( Haab ) and the Wayeb, I find that when I calculate today’s date ( Feb 15 ) on the various sites, they all return with 1 Kayab, far off from being the second closing day. Am I missing something? Thank you!
Hello Thiago. This is precisely why I am avoiding the use of the word Wayeb.
The Wayeb is a month of the Ha’ab calendar, which is the 365 day solar calendar. It was used in antiquity and is used by the archaeology community. In the Ha’ab the new year (0 Pop) will fall on 30th March. This means the month of Wayeb will begin on 25th March on the day 8 E’.
Here in the Highlands of Guatemala, the calendar which is followed, and has been followed for hundreds of years, is referred to as Macehual Q’ij. It has its new year, the day 0 Nabe Mam on 12 No’j (19th February 2024) You will not find the Macehual Q’ij on any online calculations. The final 5 days of the Macehual Q’ij are called Tz’apin (or Tz’api) Q’ij which means closing days. The earliest referenceci have for this is from 1685, from San Pedro la Laguna. Unfortunately by referring to these closing days as Wayeb, the issue has become very confusing as it is not clear which calendar or count is being referred to. Ideally people who work with the Highland count would drop the term Wayeb, but I doubt that will happen. That’s why I’m using Tz’apin Q’ij, for absolute clarity.
In summary
Ha’ab = 365 days
New year 30th March 2024 (13 No’j 0 Pop)
Wayeb = 5 days, 25th – 29th March 2024 (starts on 8 E’)
Macehual Q’ij = 365 days
New year 19th February 2024 (12 No’j 0 Nabe Mam)
Tz’apin Q’ij = 5 days, 14th – 18th February 2024 (Starts on 7 E’)
I hope that helps!
