10 Tz’ikin (2nd June 2023)

10 Tz'ikinToday we see the prosperous nawal Tz’ikin, paired with the cooperative and community minded energy of the number 10 giving rise to a day of sharing visions for prosperity within your community.

Communities prosper when each member of that community is strong and healthy. Should one member have a problem, a strong community will rally round and ensure that the individual is supported.  Each member of the community brings their own wisdom and energy and is valued for their input. The ability to freely give that support, and accept it when it is offered is what truly benefits the community and everyone in it.

Change is not always easy, and as we go further through this trecena of Kame, we may need some assistance to achieve our completed vision of transformation. Tz’ikin is the day of visions and these visions are known to bring prosperity, both to yourself and your community. This prosperity may be financial, but it may also be greater wisdom or understanding. Sometimes these visions may be grand and may require skills or knowledge that you don’t possess in order to achieve them. Today is a day when we can share our visions with our community, and when we can ask for a helping hand to manifest these visions into the physical world. As always, this energy works both ways. A member of your community may be looking for your advice to help them see what they are missing in their plan, or to help them see things from a different perspective. Your willingness to share your vision with them may bring prosperity to both of your lives.

The nawal Tz’ikin is a nawal of good fortune, almost literally. Tz’ikin is another manifestation and abundance day, a day of prosperity which comes through vision. The word Tz’ikin means bird, although many like to relate it to the Quetzal bird or Eagle. Where the nawal Ix is connected with the Heart of the Earth, Tz’ikin is connected with the Heart of the Sky. In the foliated cross representation of Aj, we saw the bird deity sitting atop the cross representing the Heart of the Sky. Whilst all is one in the general overview, we could see Ix as representing the female principle (Earth energy / yin) and Tz’ikin as representing the male principle (Sky energy / yang).

A nawal of prosperity, sometimes seems odd to people seeking “higher knowledge”. It is not quite seen the same here. If your family is starving, you are more likely to fall off the good road, perhaps into dishonesty or criminal activity. By asking nawal Tz’ikin for prosperity in your life, you are more likely to be relaxed, to be able to help others and to be more constructive within your community. That is not to say that your own input of hard work will not be necessary, just that it is hard work that will pay off.

Tz’ikin has the ability to give visions, it helps people to see the bigger picture within life. It also helps people to focus on details. It has grand aspirations and helps people to rise to the top of their abilities, which of course brings them prosperity.

Just as Tz’ikin can focus, it’s broad vision can occasionally cause distraction. Sometimes, just when it is heading towards it’s goal it can be distracted by something “shiny.” This energy gives an ability to create great social networks, but sometimes spends too much time trying to maintain them.

The number 10 is another number which demonstrates the connection between the sacred calendar and the human body. As five represents one hand, ten represents two hands coming together. This can be seen as the shaking of hands creating agreement between people. Ten is seen as a good number, a number of community and the laws of society, of people acting in harmony with each other.

3 Tz’ikin (13th May 2023)

3 Tz'ikinSometimes a day which carries a usually fortunate nawal can be modified by a number to create a less conducive energy. The usual clarity of vision of Tz’ikin may be clouded by external circumstances, today you may need to rely on your inner vision.

Tz’ikin days are usually enjoyable. They are social, visionary and prosperous, but today it is possible that all of those qualities are obstructed as the influence of the number 3 comes into play. The energy of the number may 3 bring doubts, instability and challenges. Whilst its combination with the highly positive energy of the nawal Tz’ikin may be cause its effect to be softened, it is possible that this Tz’ikin day may not be as beneficial as other Tz’ikin days. It is implied that this could be a challenging day on which to do business, true prosperity being blocked by a lack of vision or an inability to focus. An even bigger problem could be believing that you have a true and clear vision, only to find that it has been distorted, leading you to make potentially costly mistakes. It would be better to leave any important business deals for another day.

The most positive aspect of the 3 relates to the home, and perhaps this will be a more fortunate place to focus Tz’ikin‘s visionary aspects today. This is a day to work on your inner vision for the future, possibly to meditate on what your options to bring prosperity to your home. It is a day for quietly working on your inner vision.

There are various myths about the creation which link with the number 3. One is that at the time of creation, three stone jumped out of the fireplace and formed the new world. These three stones are called the hearthstones, and are still seen in many Maya homes today, on the fire supporting the tortilla griddle. From an astronomical point of view, the stones are the stars Alnitak, Saiph and Rigel in the constellation we call Orion, and the Smoky Fireplace is the Great Orion Nebula (M42)

The number 3 is still in the low end of the range of numbers. It does not have much energy yet, and it is also an odd number. It can represent the home, relating to the three hearthstones laid by the creators, and this is probably a good focus for a 3 day. However, it is possibly the most troublesome of the numbers to deal with, it lacks stability and represents challenges and obstructions. The number three brings up internal/external dilemma. The lack of stability in the physical, external world that it brings suggests that the more appropriate action is to look to the internal world, both of the home and of yourself.

9 Tz’ikin (23rd April 2023)

9 Tz'ikinThe day 9 Tz’ikin combines the fortunate and prosperous day of Tz’ikin with the number of life and the divine feminine. This gives the potential for a very beneficial day, especially with respect to prosperity.

As the bird soars high in the sky it is able to see the path ahead, giving an understanding of both possible future complications and the best route to take in order to avoid them. This is metaphorically part of the essence of the nawal Tz’ikin. It give us the ability to perceive the most prosperous direction in which to put our energy. This may be why of Tz’ikin days, and the people who carry this nawal, are naturally endowed with good fortune. They carry the foresight to make beneficial decisions.

Of course, an important point to note is that the prosperity mentioned here is not just a material thing. It is not about a big bank balance on a dying planet. To attain true prosperity, it is vitally important that all systems thrive – us, our families, our communities and the nature which supports it all. As the number 9 represents life itself, this could be a good day to ask for a vision which brings prosperity to all forms of life, which helps us and our environment to thrive.

The number 9 represents both life and the feminine, so perhaps today is a day to seek guidance from the women in our lives in order to bring sustainable prosperity to ourselves, our families, our community and our environment. It can be seen as a day to work on your life’s vision or, if you haven’t got one, ask for your life’s vision to come to you.

The number nine is very special indeed. It is the number of lunations in the human gestation period and in the sacred calendar. The sacred calendar is known as a calendar of life, and it is women that give life. As such the number nine is seen as the number of life and the number of the divine feminine. It gives all that it is attached to a strong feminine presence and is a day on which women may wish to give thanks for their gifts.

2 Tz’ikin (3rd April 2023)

2 Tz'ikinThere are many ways that the day 2 Tz’ikin can be interpreted. Most are positive as both Tz’ikin the energy of 2 have beneficial properties. It is a day to see and resolve duality for the prosperity of all.

It is a day that brings focus to relationships, and particularly may help to see and understand elements of self sacrifice required within a relationship in order to bring prosperity. Tz’ikin has a rather light hearted and good nature, and gives the ability to see the bigger picture, it helps us to put our sacrifices into perspective and see the benefits they bring. In matters of business, a partnership formed today should be rather beneficial, co-operation bringing the vision into reality.

However, there are other much higher aspects associated with the nawal Tz’ikin. It is true that Tz’ikin days are used for prosperity, but really what do we mean by prosperity? Of course we could see the surface level of financial matters and Tz’ikin days are said to be good for business, but the prosperity that the nawal Tz’ikin guides us to is on a deeper level. It brings us the visions which help our environment, families and communities to thrive, which help them to truly prosper and multiply.

Here, the combination with the energy of the 2 perhaps helps us to see both sides of the story. Both the number 2 and the nawal Tz’ikin can act as mediators, occasionally sitting on the fence, but generally able to resolve situations. Today brings just such an energy. It is when we can see the issues through the eyes of others that we can understand their point of view and create harmony. This is not to say that we have to abandon our own causes, far from it, but by seeing the views of “the opposition” we can arrive at a resolution which brings prosperity to all.

The number 2 is representative of duality, of polarity. Although it is a low number it has surprising strength as it is said to be able to call upon both aspects or polarities of what it is attached to. It is said to be the number of lovers, it signifies relationships and self-sacrifice. Whilst it can lend itself to mediation, seeing both sides of the story, it also can be indecisive.

8 Tz’ikin (14th March 2023)

8 Tz'ikinWith the 8 representing wholeness and Tz’ikin representing the vision, this may be the day when the big picture is finally revealed to the world. It is the day when the new vision combines with the old to bring prosperity.

The energy of the days numbered 8 can be seen as an overlap, where the novelty of the energy of the number 1 combines with the energy of the ending of number 7. It is the seam between the new fabric and the old, that which joins the previous weaving to the current. As such it can be seen as a combination of energies, a re-imagining of an old principle or vision, again breathing new life into an existing idea. When combined with the energy of the nawal Tz’ikin this brings in the energy of prosperity. This is a day of bringing together existing ideas with new energy in order to sustain those around us.

If you have the vision for a new venture, particularly a new business venture, this is a great day to seek advice from those who have taken on similar tasks before. The combination of the old and new may bring great success.

The day 8 Tz’ikin is the day on which green candles are offered to the ceremonial fires to give thanks for our prosperity and the prosperity of  our families and our communities. It is a day to give thanks for our ability to focus on fine detail, but also to see the bigger picture when required. As we give thanks for what we have, we also ask for the vision to come to us, to help those around us prosper. This is a day to give thanks for what we are perfecting, and what we cried out for.

The number 8 is considered to be a number of wholeness. It can be seen as birth (1) and death (7) combined to represent the whole cycle of the soul. It can also be seen as the point where the four first men who raised the sky from the sea were joined by their wives and the world become whole. It is the most common day for ceremonies to be made, it is still in the balanced range of numbers and is an even number, which is also considered fortunate. As this wholeness represents every aspect of the energy of the day with which it is coupled, it is the wholeness of the nawal that is addressed in ceremony.

New Video – The Trecena of Tz’ikin (22nd February – 6th March 2023)

The trecena of Tz’ikin brings the opportunity to bring forward a new vision for ourselves, our family or our community. It brings a time of re-envisioning how we choose our world to be, how to create a new time of sustainable prosperity.

My 2023 calendar is now available. The calendar shows the days of the Chol Q’ij, formatted onto the Gregorian calendar. This year it is available electronically as a pdf in both English and Spanish. Printed versions, in English, are available locally here in Guatemala, from Nectar, Palo Santo and Lava Love Cacao in San Marcos. It is also available at the candle shop of Nana Maria Feliciana, opposite Banrural in San Juan la Laguna. See this link for details on how to get your pdf https://thefourpillars.net/?page_id=9580

Within the village of San Pablo la Laguna, there is an organisation doing great work. They are called ODIM and are specialising in medical and educational services. During the pandemic restrictions, they helped feed many people, but this is in addition to their regular, long term work there. You can find out more about them through this link https://tinyurl.com/yb4l3rux

Popol Jay is an ancient name to define the House of the Council of Elders, among the Maya of Guatemala. These were places of wisdom where sacred knowledge about medicine, the calendars, music, spiritual practice and more was kept and passed to future generations. All were burnt down during the Conquest and subsequent Colonization periods. Today, the Q’eqchi’ Maya Council of Elders Releb’aal Saq’e has joined forces with many supporters to rebuild the Popol Jay of the North, in the lowlands of the Petén region, heart of the Maya culture of the Classic Period. The Elders have worked hard to acquire land and co-design this Center of Knowledge to share ancient wisdom with the World. To donate to the Elders of Peten to fund the Popol Jay, please use this link https://tinyurl.com/8s7vkvr

If you would like to dive deeper into the sacred calendar, I will be running a workshop via Zoom from 10 am – 2pm (Guatemala Time, UTC -6) from 27th – 31st March 2023. There are currently some spaces available. For more information, please go to https://thefourpillars.net/?page_id=1120

1 Tz’ikin (22nd February 2023)

1 Tz'ikinThe nawal of vision and prosperity combines with the number of novelty and birth to bring an auspicious day, and new trecena. This is a day of inspiration, a day to begin work on a new vision.

The nawal Tz’ikin is also a nawal of manifestation, and one way it does this is through the voice. The relatively low power of 1 Tz’ikin suggests that while this manifestation is possible, it is likely to need a little encouragement. You may need a little nudge to speak up for what you wish to bring into your life, but once you do so, the potential for it to manifest is strong.

If you are looking to start a new business venture, in particular, this is the day. However, you might find that it is not yet fully formed and input from your friends or advisers may help to define it further. Perhaps you are guided to start something new, perhaps today is the day on which to ask for a vision on how to proceed. Tz’ikin energy is seen as lively and sociable, occasionally to much so for its own good, but today this may be slightly muted and may be very useful. It is a perfect day to ask your associates to help you to clarify your vision. It may also be a time to bring several ideas together into one, clear unified image.

The number 1 is representative of the seed, of unity. It represents birth and beginnings. It is a low and odd number, which usually represents something challenging. However, the seed can grow into a mighty tree, it is full of potential. It just needs the correct nutrients and conditions to germinate and develop, just as sometimes we need encouragement to develop our ideas.

7 Tz’ikin (2nd February 2023)

7 Tz'ikinThe day 7 Tz’ikin can encompass both focus and the ability to see the bigger picture. As the bird sitting atop the pyramid it has an enormous breadth of vision, which may lead to indecision or to prosperity if focused.

The nawal Tz’ikin has a naturally restless energy. It is a communicator, as the bird hops from one branch to another, gathering and exchanging information. It receives different points of view which can lead it to prosperity when correctly put together. However, sometimes it spends too much time observing and communicating to bring these things together.

If this can be controlled, then Tz’ikin may bring focus with 7 representing the goal, the final aim. It may lead to the vision of how to finalise an idea. It has the ability to see how to thrive in all choices, and prosperity may come, as long as distractions can be avoided. This may be a day where you receive the final vision, the final part of the puzzle which leads to prosperity for you, your family, your community and the environment.

Number Sequence.jpg
The sequence of numbers as they appear with each appearance of a nawal. Here we see that the sequence begins with 1 and ends with 7, giving 7 as a number of finality.

The number seven is the mid-point of the range of numbers. It is known as a number of death and endings, which would seem strange as it is only half way through. It is another representation of the change of state of the soul, showing half of the journey (1-6) in the mortal world and half (8-13) in the otherworld.

The numbers of the days set out as a pyramid.
The numbers of the days as they appear through the trecena. Here they can also be set out as a pyramid, reaching the peak is also the end of a journey.

If we imagine the numbers 1 through 13 as a pyramid, the number seven would be at the top. Seven is the number of balance, it gives the ability to weigh up situations and see all points of view. While this may be very noble, it may lead to indecision.

13 Tz’ikin (13th January 2023)

13 Tz'ikinToday brings an interesting energy where the nawal of vision and prosperity combines with the number representing the spirit world. Today is the day to ask for ancestral guidance towards prosperity.

This is not a day to necessarily expect abundance to just drop out of thin air in front of you, although the strength of this day does not rule that out either. This type of assistance may be a gift, but may also not lead to a long term solution. It is more a day to receive the vision of how to bring prosperity to you, your family and your community. Whilst it might be a better day than usual to buy a lottery ticket, a more sustainable plan may be to seek guidance regarding your future vision for prosperity. True prosperity is, of course, not only financial.

The energy of the number 13 represents the spirit world, including our deceased ancestors. On these days, it is easier to seek their counsel through some form of divination or mediumship. It may even be that the nawal Tz’ikin brings to you directly a vision of how to prosper, acting as the messenger between the unseen world and you. It is certainly a day to keep your eyes open, and be aware of visual pointers, signs and signals which mark your most fortunate direction. As the trecena of Aq’ab’al comes to an end, this is the day to ask for help, verbally, and particularly from your ancestors, and use your eyes to see what they show you with regards to how to develop your concepts into a vision. You may be surprised how easily the answers come to you when you look for them today.

The number 13 is the final number. It represents the spirit world. It is said that on Halloween, the veil between the worlds is the thinnest. However within the sacred calendar, this thinning happens every 13 days. This connection with the spirit world creates a powerful day, where both the positive and negative aspects of the nawal it is attached to come through strongly. It is a very good day for activities such as divination, however, ceremonies on 13 days are generally carried out only by the most experienced Aj Q’ij who understand how to work with that strength of energy.

6 Tz’ikin (24th December 2022)

6 Tz'ikinThe energy of nawal representing the Heart of the Sky connects with the number joining Heaven and Earth, bringing your vision into a stable and prosperous reality.

The nawal Tz’ikin is seen as a messenger from the Heart of the Sky. It spends its time in the air and on the ground, and in this way it brings us messages from above. When it reaches the great height, it brings the vision, of what is around us and where to proceed, and as such is seen as the visionary. These visions also lead us to potential prosperity. Tz’ikin is usually seen as a fortunate energy, although sometimes it can be rather easily distracted.

Today it combines with the number representing ultimate stability, the physical plane combined with the essence of the Heart of the Sky (the divine masculine principle) and the Heart of the Earth (the divine feminine principle.) It has all the supporting energies working together in one place to make it happen.

Tz’ikin is another day of manifestation, and is particularly associated with the ability to do this through the use of the word. With the stability brought to it by the number 6, this can be seen as a day to ask for what you seek in life. It is a balanced energy, giving rise to stable and sustainable prosperity. If you have a vision for your family, today is the day to bring it to Earth and empower it with your words.

Nawal Tz’ikin is the nawal of prosperity, which sometimes seems odd to people seeking “higher knowledge”. It is not quite seen the same here. Tz’ikin has the ability to give visions, it helps people to see the bigger picture within life. It also helps people to focus on details. It has grand aspirations and helps people to rise to the top of their abilities, which of course brings them prosperity.
