Here are the days of the Chol Q’ij mapped onto the Gregorian month of May 2024.
Some interesting things are happening in early May 2024. Wajxakib B’atz, the most important day of the sacred calendar, falls on 3rd May. Wajxakib B’atz is the renewal of the ceremonial cycle. It is a day on which new Aj Q’ij’ab are initiated and a day of celebration of the sacred calendar itself.
On the 4th the day of 9 E’ lines up with Bealtaine. Both these energies are a cause for celebration. Bealtaine can be seen as the first day of summer in the Celtic calendar, and 9 E’ celebrates our life path. It seems to be an auspicious pairing.
It is also around the time of the Eta Aquarid meteor shower, which peaks on the morning of the 5th. This year it falls around the time of the new moon. This will mean that the meteor shower may be visible, clouds permitting. It would be a fitting way to end a Bealtaine fire ceremony taking place on the night between the 4th and 5th May.
