Here are the days of the Chol Q’ij mapped onto the Gregorian month of August 2020.
Once again, August is rather a quiet month, although there is a really interesting moment. Here in Guatemala, the solar zenith passage happens around 13th August, which also happens to be the perseid meteor shower. This year, Venus will also reach its maximum western elongation (its greatest height in the predawn sky) on August 13th too. With Venus as the morning star, all sorts of disruption can occur as the light is shone onto the darkness. This will be most evident between the heliacal rise (6E’ – June 14th) and the greatest height (1 E’ – August 13th), once we are passed that it may be a time when scandals creep back into the darkness.
