Here are the days of the Chol Q’ij mapped onto the Gregorian month of December 2017.
Once again the Sacred calendar has turned to a very important point in time. Wajxakib B’atz (6th December) marks the start of a new ceremonial year and throughout Guatemala ceremonies will be made for this day. It is a day of initiation of new Aj Q’ij, and the beginning of training for the ones just beginning their path.
Astronomically we have the solstice on 21st December and two meteor showers, the Geminids on the 13th and the Ursids on the 21st. The Ursids occur just after new moon which may give a good chance to see them.
